Mini 2/Bing Carb running slightly rich

Mini 2/Bing Carb running slightly rich

Postby Zajmie » Sun Sep 20, 2009 5:36 pm

Question to the gear heads out there.

I am running my mini 2 at 32/1 (per manual), using Maxim 727 (two stroke racing oil for dirtbikes). My plug is a little gooey..not horrible. But it feels like the engine isn't spooling up
quite as quickly/cleanly as in the past.

Don't know if I should run at 40/1 or 50/1 like everyone else seems to be doing, or if there is
an adjustment screw I need to monkey with on the Bing...

Any suggestions??

Hey Ennis,

I have been looking into the mixture for you and it seems like there is different ways you can do it. With the Nirvana Simonini Mini 2
they say for the break in 40 to 1 for 10-12 hours and then 50 to 1 after that. I have also seen that some are doing 32 to 1 for the break in only 5 hours and then going to 40 to 1. So i guess you can choose which one you want to use but It seems that the 32 to 1 is just for the break in.

Thanks Ryan!

Regardlsess of scenario, I'm past the break-in point. Tomorrow will be between 40 and 50 to 1.
I have about a gallon of 32:1 in the tank. I'll add another 1.5 gallons of 50:1. Not sure where I'll run it in the future. Will look at the plug post flight tomorrow, and, based on it's condition, make an informed decision then.

Thanks for info.....

Ennis, I use Power Gold or Redline Synthetic 2 stroke oil and AvGas mixed at 50/1. Plug looks good, carbon deposits aren't bad with a cleaning at 25/30 hrs. Not sure, maybe some oils leave more goo than others, I've had good luck with the two I mentioned. If you run regular or super unleaded pump gas, you may have to switch main jets. I run a 146 with AvGas and a 150 with pump gas. The AvGas seems to burn a little cooler and keep things cleaner.

What kind of prop are you running?
